OVERNIGHT SAFARI STAY @ LION SANDS TINGA LODGE

Last May, we treated ourselves to an overnight stay at the beautiful 5 star lodge called LION SANDS TINGA LODGE situated in Kruger Park. It was quiet and luxurious, but not "over the top"! The decor is very rustic and natural. We were able to do a night and a morning safari. We learnt that if we go on safari, we must stay for a minimum of two nights, in order to enjoy the peace, serenity, relaxation and action.
Our bungalow located at the end of a boardwalk.

A ranger needed to walk us to/from our bungalow,
in case we came across a wild animal lurking nearby!

Upon our arrival, we were greeted with our huge, cosy bed complete
with a welcome message made from bamboo!

Africans love their outdoor showers and bathing with nature!

For a more luxurious bath in privacy, one could use this.

Or this.

Reading a welcome letter.
Check out the room!

The outdoor spa...if you are game with the game!

We saw ....water buffalo guarding their herd,

giraffes gracefully gliding through the bush,

and a sleeping lion!

It was very cold at night! I have four layers on to keep me warm.
We have stopped for "sundowners".
A tradition on safari.

Queen of the Safari!
I shall hold court.

Now, what shall I have?

Next morning.. early. Our ranger and his tracker leave us (as bait)
and go off in search of lions!
They told us that they found lions which had just made a kill.
Sadly, the vehicle could not get to where they were.

This is an open safari vehicle. It cannot go on the open roads,
but it can go just about anywhere in the bush!
The ranger is driving and the tracker is sitting at the front
looking for signs of recent animal activity.

A baby hippo playing close by it's mum and family.

We came across 20+ elephants.

They are guarded by the matriarch. She and the older females look after the young.
They are very intelligent animals. This one is warning us to stay back.

A young one eating leaves.

We had a short, but wonderful time on this safari. Now... to plan the next one!
